To preserve and improve the Gun Lake water quality, Gun Lake Association has contracted again this year with Lake Restoration to treat aquatic invasive plants in 2026. To keep all our Gun Lake neighbors well informed, we wanted to make you aware that we will be treating various areas of Gun Lake for curly-leaf pondweed in April or May of 2026, upon completion of the DNR lake survey.
Curly-leaf pondweed (CLP) is an invasive plant that grows in the spring and early summer. The objective of the CLP treatment program is to treat the heaviest growth areas of CLP to improve the water quality and recreational use of the lake. Planned treatment sites will be approved by the DNR if they are 150 offshore feet or more. If the approved treatment sites are within 150 feet of your property and you DO NOT want the treatment to occur adjacent to your property (within 150 feet from shore), please notify gunlakemn@gmail.com immediately.
The treatment methods will follow all Department of Natural Resources’ guidelines and permits. Learn more about our CLP treatment program over the past 20+ years here.
